Since participating in sporting activities in public places is often a major hurdle for people with disabilities, we have developed special training programs to counteract this. Children and adolescents with disabilities will be introduced to sport as a leisure activity. Participants can choose their own sports according to their ability and interest. In addition to sports training, there are also other activities such as joint role-playing games, which give children and young people better access to their social environment and athletic context. The programme, therefore, has a positive impact on physical, mental and social health and is currently being implemented in four Styrian municipalities as part of the action plan for the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Disabled.
